Death and Chocolate

Music by Matt Winkworth | Words by Chris Bush

Commissioned as part of an evening of four musical miniatures inspired by patient and staff experiences of hospital A&E. Rather than focussing on the drama within A&E itself, Death and Chocolate is a 12-minute sung-through musical set at a vending machine just outside.

No further plans for development

“Death and Chocolate by Chris Bush and Matt Winkworth uses the vending machine as its focus and explores the human traffic that passes by in a virtually through-sung format.” The Stage

When moments before we were dancing
We sang to our harmonised score
But now while we soundlessly gather our breaths
One fewer hearts beats than before
And I haven’t grown used to it yet
